S is for ........

Ok what is S for ?
S is for Sunshine

S is for single

(Who remembers these treasures? )

S is for strawberries And strawberry shortcake

S is for  sweets ( candies to you US readers)

S is for Summer

S is for shortbread

S is for swimming

S is for sign language
S is for Switzerland

S is for Saturday Centus

Ok enough of this list of  S words What I really want to share with you today is Senses . No I don't mean  Senses as being sensible that would never do, I mean Our five Senses Now I am extremely thankful to God that I have my five senses because If I did not then I would not be able to Smell the fragrances in my spring garden or see the shrubs blooming or speak about the sabotaging slugs invading my hostas then there are touch and hear . I could not hear the shrill calling of the starlings and touch the stinging nettle that has just stung my leg.

I would not see the swimming tadpoles and swarming bugs or the flowers straining to catch the last of the suns rays at seven oclock before they shut their flowers for the night.

I would miss the singing of praise and worship on a Sunday at church or whilst listening to UCB radio sitting at my PC.

I would miss the smell of fresh baked bread or steaming coffee on a Saturday morning when there is time to appreciate it.

Ok I am not perfect My hearing is selective well I hope so the thought of not hearing my childrens voices is unbearable. My eyesight is short and I wear Spectacles, my Optomotrist wants me to have Varifocals sadly the £400 price tag is stopping that. My speach is ok not always patient and not always thought out before I say things but its ok.  I am able to touch and feel the silky smooth grass under my feet or the sand between my toes. And thankfully my taste buds can taste the difference between chocolate and lemon juice and Peanuts and Vegetables.

So all in all I am blessed with five working senses and for that I thank God .
Ok I am not bragging I know there are people who are blind but thankful that Braile was invented.
There are people who are deaf ether totaly  and rely on sign language  or partially and rely on hearing aids. There are people who have no taste how awful that must be and not being able to smell both for pleasure and safety.
And speech problems either none at all or problems with it.
Imagine not being able to enjoy touching lifes pleasure.

So all in all I am sure that every reader here is thankful for their Senses.

I know that I will read other blogs today and think oh why did I not think of that but I am satisfied with my choice today .

oh and finally

SAD

Why am I sad ?
I am sad because there are only
Seven letters of the alphabet left .
What will I do on a Wednesday night?
What will I do instead of spending time reading other peoples ideas ?

Anyway if you are still here pop over to see Jenny in class and see what other S posts there have been
Thank you and see you next TIME for T

yes, senses, people don't think about them because they have it but when it's gone? well, you know

I am grateful I can still see without eyeglasses, although I will probably be wearing on a regular basis soon

Lots of great choices for S. I know just what you mean about the price of glasses, I have bifocals and every time I need a new prescription I just cringe. Love your description of Saturday morning. There is nothing better than the smell of freshly brewing coffee. I hope Mrs. Matlock comes up with a good project for us after this, I'm afraid I'm going to be bored! Kathy

I am also very thankful to have all my 5 senses. I do have a niece who is deaf and I know how she struggles with both hearing and speech because of it.

Your posts are always visually a delight and the content gives us food for thought. I was never so aware of my own senses until my mother lost most of her eyesight to macular degeneration. An avid reader most of her life, reading a book a day, sometimes, in her senior years, this devasted her. She didn't want books on tape, she wanted to hold a book in her hand.

I've been fortunate to travel all over the world, to see increbile places and things ( the Taj Mahal, Big Ben, Iguzu Falls, Mt. Fuji, the Alps ) and to eat local dishes and food in all those places. A treat for the senses!

My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!! Finally, at the age of 65, I did it!
( These are poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well )

Excellent, comprehenSive S post! The loved that you tackled the senses.

Don't worry about when the alphabet ends. I'm sure Mrs. Matlock will come up with a summer school of sorts for the class. :)

I was feeling sad about there only being 7 letters left too!

I had to laugh about the sabotaging slugs! Not laughing about them eating your hostas but I just love the image that it gave me. Little army slugs *L*

Hey, my word veri has a double S in it! How cool is that?

Loved all your photos and I feel the same way about my senses. I've often wondered which one I could live without if I had to and not go completely mad.

What a great post! I loved all the s's but really appreciated the focus on the 5 senses. It's good to stop for a minute and focus on what's real and beautiful, and those senses should be treasured.

I think we appreciate our senses most of all when they begin to be less sharp. I know I would hate to have to live without any one of them :(

Superb S post! :)
We do seem to take our senses for granted, until one isn't working quite right. Thank you for the reminder to be more aware of these blessings from God :) .

See you next week for T!
Blessings,
Catherine :)

Excellent post as always friend:) I too have to wear glasses when I really want my vision crisp! When I got my new glasses I noticed how much more I actually trusted my eyes and therefore used them more! I am blessed with Super Taste buds that have helped me to become extremely picky about foods and the way they are prepared:) I think the sense I use most though is my hearing! I hear things no one else hears all the time...and I don't mean in the crazy hearing voices kind of way:) I take in a lot of info through my ears and like you try to be selective if I can:)I would love to do a doll for you...and if you would send me a picture of who you want I would be happy to do it for a donation and the cost of shipping:) The donation can be a small as a thank you note and nothing more. I like to make presents for my friends:)And your comments always make me smile! Talk to you soon!
