Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain........Violet

Ok this weeks offering is my daughter Hannah Frances Ianthe

Ianthe (English translation: "purple or violet flower") was a name attributed to three figures in Greek mythology

We well I came up with the name Ianthe as I was lying on the sofa waiting to go into hospital the next day to have Hannah.
I was messing with names and thought I would never have a name for the baby if it was a girl.
Initially i thought I had made it up as the first part Ian is obviously her fathers name and The is an abbreviation for Theresa wich is where Tracy comes from.
But alas I can not take credit as I was trawling through a name book when I stumbled upon the name.

As well as flower it is the shortened version of Iolanthe queen of the fairies and  the feminin of Ian . what more could we want . I wanted to give it as a first name but wa snot allowed.

This is Hannah and her Sister Liz

I had to include this picture of my Beautiful great Niece Mya who is wearing a lovely Lilac coloured sweater.
And yet another sweet photo of her

My final picture this week of some buttons that I was sorting and there amongst them all are two violet ones.
Spealing of buttons are you a button collector?
I find it fascinating to thing of the stories a button could tellif it could talk.
These buttons came from my Godmother.

Well as we near the end of summer school I will be taking a quick peak around the rest of the classes offerings hope you can join me. I know The Teacher Jenny will be thrilled .

Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain......... Blue

Oh Help this sign reminds me of my life , does it you  ?
Forever going round in circles an not knowing what to do next thats me.
I am so easily sidetracked.
Today for instance I am  ( wrote this Tuesday) trying to clean the house, finish craft projects for AJ's coffee evening ( for Thurs)  make the house welcoming to guests and then go with another friend to collect daughters car and drop at her work place and finally do the rest of the day to day tasks.

Basically I am on this roundabout and got no idea where to start.

So I decided to drop daughter and son at work and walk the dog as we had this rare sight
BLUE SKY

I then spotted this boat and though how lovely to have a boat to meander along the canal at 4 miles per hour dreaming off......

Owning a proper canal boat and doing above in style.

Anyway enough day dreaming time to go home and start the days jobs. Could not park here for obvious reasons . I took this at a time when no one was about.
It really annoys me when people who are obviously not disabled park in these bays.

Then saw the 1st of about 10 charity shops and this sent me into apanic about my list from the begining of the holidays and on that list was sort stuff for charity shop oops not done.

Now this is one of my fav shops for those that do not know UK shops WHSmiths is a newsagents, stationary , books and toys , DVD's and CD selling shop I can spend hours there not this one as it is quite small.I used to love it as a child when I got a gift voucher for Christmas and Birthdays.

I incleded this as it reminds me that whilst at this moment in time I am excited with lots to do but there are people not far from me and around the world that are preparing to busy a loved one.
Christopher will along with his team mates be attending a funeral this week of a rugby team member who wa stragically killed last week.

Some things that are Blue in my life is this car It served me well but needs to be moved from my drive.I will say no more as I do not want to spoil my positive day.

Next I spotted another room to tidy the utility room is home to the animals at night and this is an old duvet cover that now keeps said animals cozy.

This pot had a lovely plant in it until I caused it's untimely death it is now home to my precious Felcos and gardening gloves

Tissues now these have been a standard iem in this home for years I hate the thought of washing someones hanky. Having said that I used to do Ians and lovingly iron them .

This teapot also has a cup and saucer and was a gift from one of my fab daughters one Christmas.Great for  a cup of Earl Grey

These above and below Pics where putchased  from Whittards tea
My friend Carolyn and I both bought a set and I love them.

Now strictly speaking this is not blue but does have blue on it. It is my Kutani Crane dinner service . AJ gave it to me early instead of waiting to leave me it in her will.
I use it and cherish it and am always looking for bits to add to it.

This is a useful  fruit, salad, trifle bowl

Saw this lying around in a study that needs a quick tidy

Now those of you readers with children will know that along with socks in the wash cycle  Pens have the habbit of dissapearing

Onto  crafting thse punches are very useful

These are two of the notice boards I am maling for AJ's coffee evening

This cutter is brilliant small but nifty.

Ok time to post the blue blog

Oh one last thing if you have any time please pop to visit our teacher Jenny , She is great always gives us an A+ .

Richard Of York Gained Battle in Vain.... Green

Green

like all colours Green comes in many shades and shapes and sizes.
I am very fortunate and here we seem to have the right amount of rain and sun to keep this country very Green

I know us Brits always moan because we have no sun or we moan because we have to much rain, but do you know something I am so thankful that I live here . Especially at this time when Parkistan is drowning under the rain and parts of the world are burning because of the sun.
For the last few weeks I have been snapping away to keep to my promise to only use my own photographs on this Rainbow summer school.
This was a park I went to outside Halifax there was an abundance of green around me .
 A mass of hostas
Coloving watching these trees develope over the year . And then come Suptember trying to find a couple of good conkers .nkers I just
Mr Nosey now I am nosey I admit it . Well I am sorry I like to know whats going on
Candles now there is ( in my opinion ) nothing nicer that sitting in a room in the evening with candles flickering and a glass of wine.
Peace Lillies are my preferred gift if I go to visit someone to me they are a symbol of Peace such a simple plant .
I took this just because it it was green.
now who here was not reminded of the christmas tree?
Now lots of green food exits and is very good for us and somehow tastes much better if picked from your own garden or supplied by a wonderful AJ
I took this close up in my friends garden when I had been invited round for afternoon tea.
This plant is in AJ's garden and I love it . It is from Architectual plants in Sussex and just a stunning plant I especially love the galvanised bucket and simple white stone.
Now I can ve accused of getting into this sometimes
Now I have to admit I can not remember where I took this but is a prime example of parks around this lovely country.
I have to say this is my favourite photo of the year . My cat was intently looking at the pot and on closer inspection I noticed this coming out I snapped away and have a whole series of the catterpillar . It reminds me of my Favourite childrens story You know the one I mean..

This water was so green and beautiful

I just loved the green shades on this stinging nettle

Well thats all folks I would go and relax with a green tea but really dislike it
See you next week
I am off to school now to read all the other links and green offerings.

Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain or Orange for this weeks summer school

Orange

Well this week I have had a problem . I had said at the start I was going to use only pictures I had taken. I have spent last few weeks looking around me and snapping away.
I don't know about you but orange has been a tough one.
I then came upon the issue of is it Orange or Yellow..

So here we go .

Now this is dubious as it looked orange the rust that is .

marigolds

Any ideas what this is?

This space hopper was much more orange in reality

How amazing to see this orange car and I just happened to have my camera with me.
It did not have grey on it . I just tried to smudge number plate out and made a mistake .

Is it red or orange?
to me as I took it it looked really orange

Saw this piece of fishing equipment in a friends garden

These are in my garden

Now is this yellow or orange I think Orange

Think this is called Lady Hamilton quite appropriate as it is growing in Aj's garden on the Hamilton estate
Last night as I lay in bed thinking I saw my scarf collection and realised there was quite a bit of orange there and looking around I then saw many of my books had orange spines so this morning before work I snapped away
Coming downstairs I then saw these two vases that Liz bought us froma trip ( sorry can't remember where she had been)  And then these pass their best Lillies.

And my final photographic offering is this hand crafted Copper rose dust and all.
The work that went into it ( I actually saw one being made) was amazing the maker would do a bit look back and tweak it .Each peta was individually made.
It reminds me of how God created us.
The craftsman then joined each individual petal together and to be honest it was not until the whole rose was assembled that I saw the true beauty of his creation.
This again reminds me of our world and how individually we can be beautiful but when we are all together we are even more precious .
We are flawed and my rose does not show its true beauty with all the dust and the fact it is tarnished but that is ok It can be restored to its beauty with some TLC .
And we can be complete by trusting God .

Orange quiz

  1. County in USA

  2. UK phone company

  3. State flower of Florida

  4. Fruit

  5. Drink

  6. Town in Rockland County

  7.  fizzy orange drink in cool shaped bottle
Well thats about it folks
Please pop by the teacher Miss Jenny she will have lots of other people blogging about Orange
